Cadillac XT6 2021<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Cadillac Although it shares components with the GMC Acadia, <\/span><\/span>the 2021 Cadillac XT6 manages to hide its roots<\/span><\/span><\/a> in the market with a convincingly upscale design and feature-rich list of options. <\/span>Two engines are offered \u2014 a turbocharged four-cylinder and a V-6 \u2014 and there’s also a sporty model with a torque-guided rear differential.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Despite its performance parts, the XT6 lacks the driving dynamism of sporty rivals such as the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. <\/span>Instead, <\/span><\/span>it appears to be better suited to take on its crosstown rival,<\/span><\/span><\/a> the Lincoln Aviator. <\/span>Cadillac offers plenty of coveted equipment in the XT6, including a suite of driver-assist features, three rows of seats, and a power liftgate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Cadillac<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\r\n

A turbocharged four-cylinder engine is joining the 2021 XT6 lineup as part of the new entry-level design level. <\/span>Shared with the smaller XT5 SUV, the turbocharged engine generates 237 horsepower and is mated to a nine <\/span><\/span>-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive<\/span><\/span><\/a> . <\/span>A 310-horsepower V-6 is still standard on Premium Luxury and Sport models. <\/span>Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is now standard across the range, and the top-of-the-line Sport model receives a new design with 20-inch wheels.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In our experience, the Sport chassis upgrades don’t provide a noticeable improvement in performance, so we stick with the mid-range Premium Luxury trim. <\/span>To that, we’re adding a Comfort and Air Quality package (heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and air ionizer) as well as second-row captain’s chairs, an interior navigation system, and a Bose Premium 14-speaker stereo system.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For 2021, XT6 buyers can choose between a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 237 horsepower or a 310-horsepower V-6. <\/span>Both come with a nine-speed automatic and can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. <\/span>Three trim levels – Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport – make up the XT6 package, with the first two focusing on comfort and the Sport receiving performance-enhancing additions such as <\/span><\/span>a torque-steered rear differential and re-tuned steering<\/span><\/span><\/a> .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

A platinum package is available and gives the XT6 all the good stuff. <\/span>Regardless of the design, the XT6 certainly looks handsome; <\/span>20-inch wheels come standard, but you can get 21-inch wheels on the Sport model. <\/span>Handling is reasonably sporty for a three-row crossover, but one wouldn’t mistake it for a nimble CT5-V.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Cadillac fuel economy<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The EPA hasn’t released fuel economy estimates for the four-turbo engine yet, but the V-6-powered XT6’s ratings are on par with those of other six-cylinder competitors like the Acura MDX and Mercedes-Benz GLE450. <\/span>Front-wheel drive V-6 models should manage 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined; <\/span>in comparison ,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

The four-wheel drive models, however, do a little worse in town and highway but see the same combined average of 20 mpg. <\/span>The XT6’s result in our 200-mile highway fuel economy test was less rosy, with our all-wheel drive vehicle delivering just 22 mpg. <\/span>For reference, the MDX runs 25 mpg on this road, and the GLE450, 23.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Interior, comfort and cargo Cadillac<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Inside, Cadillac offers seven- and eight-seater designs, featuring either a pair of captain’s chairs or a three-seater in the second row. <\/span>All XT6 cars come in a third row that seats three passengers. <\/span>The XT6’s interior trim is unimpressive when compared to that of the Audi Q7 or BMW X5. <\/span>Cargo space is also limited, with only three hand luggage. <\/span>But lowering the two back rows makes enough room for 31 bags. <\/span>The Q7 accommodates four bags behind its third row but only seats 25 down, making the XT6 the best choice if you need to carry large, bulky payloads regularly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

All XT6 models come with a touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi and wireless smartphone charging. <\/span>The latest Cadillac version of CUE software (Cadillac User Experience) is clearly displayed on the 8.0-inch screen and responds quickly to commands. <\/span>Navigation is an optional feature, as is the rear seat entertainment system with DVD player.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Cadillac Safety and Driver Assistance Features<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the XT6 a five-star rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a Top Safety Pick+, the agency’s highest honor. <\/span>A suite of driver assistance features (automatic emergency braking, lane assist, and blind spot monitoring) are standard, while more advanced features (adaptive cruise control, night vision) are available as options. <\/span>Key safety features include:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
