Mercedes AMG C43 2021
Mercedes AMG C43 2021
With a 385-horsepower Mercedes V-6 twin-turbo engine under the hood, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG C43 outshines its Benz-branded C300 counterpart and borrows design and chassis components from the most race-raced AMG C63 models. The C43 is offered as a four-door sedan, two-door coupe or convertible , the latest of which allows outdoor enjoyment in the colors of the V-6’s blown exhaust. All models wear a stylish exterior design and offer a comfortable cabin with all the amenities expected of a Mercedes, although the two-door models are less practical and offer less room for rear-seat passengers. While its performance isn’t as impressive as the more powerful C63, the C43’s balanced price tag is more accessible and retains the fun-to-driving nature and upscale areas of the other C-Class models.
Mercedes left Mercedes-AMG well enough on its own with the C43 for 2021, which makes the 12.3-inch digital display optional up front and doesn’t make any other changes.
If you prefer a two-door or top-end look , we’ll leave that decision up to you, but we prefer the sedan due to its added utility and ease of access to the back seat. In addition, the price of the four-door is lower. However, we can’t resist some of the options here, and we’ll opt for the Driver Assistance Package, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. We’re also adding heated and ventilated front seats.
Engine, transmission and performance

Mercedes ported from a 2016 C450 sedan, the C43 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 is a gem. Powerful and torque-rich, the 385-hp engine pairs with a new nine-speed automatic transmission that shifts gears with both speed and precision. The Enhanced Six has deep wells of strength and you never feel overwhelmed or overwhelmed when you demand it. Although the power has increased from 362 to 385 hp,
The 2019 C43 Sedan delivered the same 4.1-second test time from zero to 60 mph on our test track as the 2017 model we last tested. While the Mercedes-AMG C43 supplies a pair of steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, we found the nine-speed gearbox to be a competent enough companion when left to its own devices. In proportion to the AMG badges,
The dynamically skilled C43 is a pleasure to drive on two winding tracks. But add to its quick steering that’s both direct and precise, as well as a rear-biased all-wheel drive system that allows a small turn of the chassis before asking for extra help from the front wheels. The suspension can be adjusted between Comfort, Sport and Sport + settings. However, all three modes are unnecessarily stiff, and make driving on rough pavement an unpleasant experience.
Mercedes fuel economy
The fuel economy of the Mercedes C43 will not put you in the good graces of the local Sierra Club. However, the twin-turbocharged engine is very frugal due to its powerful performance. Any car that can jump to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and deliver 29 mpg on long highway cruising is an impressive player. The C43 sedan we tested did just that; The coupe managed the same result, but the convertible lagged a bit in our real-world test at 28 mpg.
Mercedes interior, comfort and cargo
The interior of the Mercedes C43 has been meticulously designed and crafted from rich materials that meet the expectations set by the model’s exorbitant price. As on the other C-Class models, the C43 features a contemporary dashboard design with a flowing center stack that conceals a deep storage well with a pair of cup holders. largely devoid of buttons, the C43’s center stack rests on a row of expensive, knurled-looking swing switches to power the standard dual-zone automatic climate control system. Conveniently arranged, the climate control panel features small graphics that are hard to read on the go. C43 trunk space is medium; We put four hand luggage inside the trunk with the rear seats used and 15 with the rear seats lowered. Wide door pockets and a pair of oversized console boxes provide the C43 with enough internal storage space.
Mercedes infotainment and communication
All C43 models come with a 10.5-inch infotainment display that works with the latest version of Mercedes-Benz’s COMAND infotainment software; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is also standard. Commands are completed using a rotating console or a touchpad placed inconveniently on top of the console. Response times were no better or worse than your average smartphone.
Safety and driver assistance features
Therefore, the C-Class AMG version has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS); The regular Benz-branded C-Class earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS in 2020. Every C43 comes equipped with standard safety features such as forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Additional driver assistance features are also available. However, adding these items requires spending thousands on expensive packages. Key safety features include:
Standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Forward Collision Warning
- Standard blind spot monitoring
Adaptive cruise control is available with semi-autonomous driving mode
- Warranty and maintenance coverage
Mercedes-AMG’s warranty is shorter than that of a number of its competitors. The brand also neglects to provide its customers with free scheduled maintenance.
The limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles
Powertrain warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles
No free scheduled maintenance
