2021 Mustang

2021 Mustang

2021 Mustang As the most powerful and fastest factory Mustang ever, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 blends modern sports car performance with premium muscle car presence. It’s built on the same track-capable chassis as the excellent Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, with an extra 234 horsepower that gives it cred in the drag segment as well. The GT500 makes effortless speed with equal parts brains and power, including a supercharged V-8 that makes 760 horsepower,

And a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, magnetic dampers. Optional carbon fiber wheels, track tires and aerodynamic aids are available for drivers looking to get the most out of this Mustang beast. Shelby GT500 sits on top of American muscle cars

Along with a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with 650 horsepower and a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye with 797 horsepower.

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 has a base price of $73,995, which can be inflated to upwards of $95,000 for a fully loaded model with just a few options available. The $1,500 handling package adds adjustable top mounts, an oil can, and a Gurney cover on the rear spoiler,

and split wicker with integrated diving planes on the front end. The $3000 tech package includes navigation, blind spot monitoring, SiriusXM satellite radio,

and heated mirrors with Shelby lamps,

And a premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen. The big ticket purchase is the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track package, aimed at anyone planning to get on the Shelby on the track. It omits the rear seats and adds carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, Recaro seats,

and a larger rear wing,

And carbon fiber interior trim, the same oil-catch case, split wicker, and adjustable upper struts as on the handling package.

Engine, Transmission and Performance 2021 Mustang

The Shelby GT500’s single-clutch powertrain – the 760 hp 5.2-liter V-8 supercharged at 7,500 rpm with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – is designed for speed while attempting to put the engine’s full power through the tires background only. This is not a Shelby as fast as you might expect. We expect the GT500 to be good for a 3.5-second slash to 60 mph

And an 11.0-second quarter-mile once running one through our test protocol. Cars with significantly less power but greater rear grip,

Like a mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette, it will easily beat that zero to 60 mph time.

Of course, it is not about straight performance. On the racetrack, the GT500 picks up tumultuous shifts and looks as dangerous as it gets. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are standard, but it’s the optional Cup 2 tires that turn the GT500 into a pinnacle hunting machine. While it’s heavy at 4,200 pounds, the GT500 corners with confidence and turns without hesitation. We wish the brake pedal was stronger, but the massive Brembo brakes hold up well to tracking abuse,

With no evidence of fading.
