Camaro There’s nothing quite like hearing the thrilling chime of a pulsating exhaust note or feeling the pleasurable feedback from a perfectly tuned steering system while flying on a twisty road. Few more affordable cars offer both of these satisfying sensations, but the Chevy Camaro is one of them. He doesn’t just focus on hustling and going fast, although it performs both tasks very well. The two-door pony comes as a Chevrolet coupe or convertible, and offers plentiful features and endless customization options. While the 650-horsepower Camaro ZL1 is the tougher version — and reviewed separately — every model can be upgraded from the base four-cylinder to a V-6 to a V-8 for work on the track with the 1LE Transformational Package. Sure, the interior can feel claustrophobic and has many other quirks, but the 2021 Chevy Camaro is primarily geared toward those who love to drive. like us.
What’s new for 2021? Camaro
The 2021 Chevy Camaro has improved with some different color options, new features, and offers a wider transmission . While Rally Green metallic and Garnet Red Tintcoat have been removed from the paint palette, Wild Cherry Tincoat is now offered – for additional coin. All models now come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which means the app can be streamed to the car’s infotainment system without having to connect it. The geared 1LE package is now available with a 10-speed automatic transmission on V-8 SS models. Previously, all 1LE cars (except the ZL1 1LE) were offered only with a six-speed manual.
Camaro
In our humble opinion, the best way to experience any new Camaro is with the optional 1LE Track Performance package . It adds distinctive look pieces like painted 20-inch wheels and satin black exterior accents, as well as unique interior trim pieces that include subtle trim and more supportive Recaro front seats (SS models only). However, the most important upgrades are those that affect performance. Each 1 pound has a dual-mode exhaust system, improved powertrain cooling components, more powerful brakes, a limited-slip differential, and special suspension tuning. While we like that even the four-cylinder and V-6 models offer the 1LE package, we choose to pair it with the 1SS that only comes with the heartier V-8. This decision will coincide with the choice of the standard manual transmission, of course.
Engine, transmission and performance
The 275-hp four-cylinder engine isn’t slow—we tested a manual model that proved surprisingly fast. But asymmetric throttle responses and unpleasant, unsportsmanlike sounds accompanied her dull demeanor. On the other hand, upgrading to a 335-hp V-6 completely changes the car’s character. The bold six have a distinct vocal track. The Camaro LT1 and SS feature Chevrolet’s popular small V-8, with 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. The massive low-end torque, linear power delivery, and chest compression acceleration are boosted by the optional two-mode exhaust, which blasts out with sharp barks on start-up and thunderous sounds during wide-open throttle blasts. The Camaro’s stunning chassis provides a connection between car and driver (see what we did there?) that is unparalleled among pony cars. Its solid construction provides precise handling and a sense of quality. Its balanced ride is powerful enough to be nimble on winding roads but still compatible with rough surfaces. Paired with a 1LE setup, the coupe is way ahead of its class — competing with cars that cost a lot more. The 1Les is tight on the track but comfortable on regular roads. Their power steering systems have reasonable efforts and very accurate responses.
