2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
Dodge With three rows of seats and 710 horsepower, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is a rollercoaster ride the whole family can enjoy — or dread. As its name suggests, there’s an unholy super-powered V-8 hidden inside its intimidating chassis , and its standard all-wheel drive system is just too excited to aid its impressive acceleration. The howl of the supercharger and the rumble of the exhaust can transition from background music to auditory assault with the press of a pedal. Dodge And when the supercar Dodge SUV doesn’t make its occupants restless and regret their lunches, it can haul up to 8,700 pounds and carry a lot of groceries. The 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat may seem like an overpriced and overused mid-size SUV, but not to those who appreciate its outrage. dodge

The Hellcat-powered Durango seemed certain, especially after Dodge teased its presence in a commercial earlier this year . A very powerful SUV is now on the horizon and scheduled for production for one year as a 2021 model. While the company made a similar move with the very limited edition Challenger SRT Demon, we hope strong sales and enthusiastic interest will extend the life of the demonic Durango.
While Dodge has released prices for the entire 2021 Durango lineup, it hasn’t made the Hellcat model configurable on the consumer site. Once that is published, we can recommend how to prepare our own version. Pre-orders begin this fall, and this super SUV will hit dealerships in early 2021.
Dodge Engine, Transmission, and Performance

There’s an engine monster hiding under the swollen and ventilated hood. It’s a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that calls out 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. This earth-shattering force is directed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Hellcat’s engine exhales through an improved exhaust system that amplifies the thunder and mingles with the supercharger’s unmistakable whine. While we haven’t had a chance to fully test the powerful Durango, Dodge claims it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and complete the quarter mile in the NHRA-approved elapsed time of 11.5 seconds.
Plus, it’s capable of towing 8,700 pounds, which is more than any other mid-size SUV. It rides on a custom-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers and 20 x 10-inch wheels with standard Pirelli Scorpion Zero all-season tires or optional Pirelli P Zero three-season tires. The Durango Top Dog also uses a powerful Brembo brake system that clamps its 15.75-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers and 13.8-inch four-piston rear discs.
Dodge fuel economy
Neither Dodge nor the EPA has released fuel economy ratings for the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat. However, we expect its numbers to be lower than the 485-horsepower SRT 392, which got 13 mpg city and 19 highway ratings from the government last year. If the 707-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is any indication, the The fire-breathing Durango can see EPA ratings as low or below 11 mpg city and 17 highway. Once its official numbers are released, and we have the opportunity to test it out on our 200-mile highway, we can assess real-world mpg.
Interior, comfort and cargo
Inside, the Hellcat Durango features a driver-focused design that resembles the dashboard of the Dodge Charger and Challenger. The SUV’s dashboard features exclusive red accents, and the flat-bottom steering wheel hosts a pair of paddle shifters as well as the SRT logo featuring a red backlight. The Hellcat also comes standard with heated and ventilated seats and upholstery in nappa leather, which includes microsuede inserts on the front cushions. The cabin can also be upgraded in Laguna leather that comes in black and Demonic red with embossed Hellcat logos.
The center console houses a pair of cup holders, a prominent T-handle, a large storage bin, and space for a wireless charging pad. Dodge says the Durango’s interior “looks wider” than the previous year’s model, but we don’t expect the carriage or passenger space to have different dimensions. All models we have previously evaluated have comfortable accommodations and a foldable third row. They carried an impressive number of handbags in our tests as well, with the ability to swallow four bags behind the back row and store up to 26 bags in the second and third rows.
Dodge infotainment and connectivity

Its infotainment system is powered by a large 10.1-inch touchscreen that supports the company’s latest Uconnect 5 software, which is said to be five times faster than the version it replaces. The interface is primarily manipulated via touch inputs, but there is also a volume rotary and adjustment knob built into the climate control panel below. The addition of Amazon Alexa functionality allows for extended voice commands, and the system also allows two Bluetooth devices to be connected simultaneously. Other popular features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. The Durango can also be equipped with a rear entertainment system that features a pair of 9.0-inch screens mounted to the rear of the front seats.
Safety and driver assistance features
The 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Automatic rear emergency braking system
Standard automatic high beam headlights
Front automatic emergency braking is available
