Bentley 2021 Continental GT
Bentley 2021 Continental GT
Bentley 2021 The Bentley Continental GT not only defines the 2021 Grand Touring car, but it proudly bears that title at the end of its name . Whether you choose a hardtop coupe or softtop convertible, a V-8 or a silky V-12, the Continental GT will make you feel like a celebrity on every outing. Unfortunately, you may need to be a celebrity to afford its six-figure price. For that big spend, Bentley adorns the cabin of the Continental GT with premium leather, genuine wood, metallic accents and all sorts of modern connectivity features. On the road, however, the Continental GT really shines , as it can showcase massive power and strike a near-perfect balance between comfort and sporty performance.
Bentley has made only a few changes to the Conti GT for 2021. Chief among them is the new panoramic glass roof available on the V-8 Coupe. Other than that, the door with large rounds receives an updated steering wheel design and the three new colors: Viridian, Patina and Snow Quartz.
Oddly enough, we prefer the cheapest of the four very expensive Continental GT models, the Continental GT V8 Coupe. Bentley’s V-8 is the finely polished jewel of an engine that gives a touch of peak horsepower to the W-12, but makes for a top-speed coupe in real-world conditions. Only at very high speeds does the increased horsepower of the W-12 engine make a difference. And while we love the wind in our hair as much as we love the next guy, we choose the coupe because, in our eyes, the arched roofline connects the style of a car in a truly elegant way.
Engine, Transmission and Performance Bentley 2021
Updated versions of the current V-8 and W-12 engines that powered the previous generation Continental GT provide plenty of power. Our tests revealed that the 542-horsepower V-8 could fire the coupe to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. The more expensive W-12 engine produces 626 horsepower that can catapult the coupe to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Both use an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that stabilizes at superb speed but is smooth. Customers can order a coupe or convertible with any engine. All Continental GT cars come with all-wheel drive as standard.
Bentley 2021 fuel economy
When a twin-turbo V-8 is a model’s most fuel-efficient offering, you know efficiency isn’t a top concern for the automaker — or its customers, for that matter. The EPA rates the Continental V-8 at 16 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. In our real-world testing, we averaged 28 mpg in the V-8 over 200 miles of highway driving.
Bentley 2021 cabin interior, comfort and cargo
Expect a luxurious cabin from anything bearing the Bentley badge, and this two-door is no different . Interior covered in aromatic leather and premium wood veneer, and just about everything on the Continental GT is customizable — for a price. Bentley’s designers have thought of everything, and each time behind the steering wheel he reveals surprising details, such as the expertly knurled control knobs and the diamond-patterned seat inlays. Although the Continental GT technically has seat belts for four passengers, we suggest you avoid using the rear seat to pull adults since the leg and headroom is limited. In our testing, we managed to fit all five handbags into a Continental box – plenty of space for a weekend away with your favorite travel companion.
Information, entertainment and communication
A 12.3-inch infotainment screen dominates the dashboard and can be made to rotate in the dashboard, resulting in a panel with three small analog gauges that show you outside air temperature, time and a compass. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities are standard, as is the digital display that allows the driver to control most functions of the Continental GT using the controls on the steering wheel. The Continental GT offers two optional audio systems: a $6,700 Bang & Olufsen arrangement and an impressive $8,800 Naim system.
Safety and driver assistance features
This vehicle has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Bentley offers driver assistance features as options such as adaptive cruise control, night vision and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection – items we’d expect to be standard, considering the steep starting price. Key safety features include:
Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
Lane departure warning with lane-keep assist
Available adaptive cruise control
Warranty and maintenance coverage
Rather than placing mileage limits on standard Continental GT warranty policies, Bentley covers everything for three years no matter how far the car travels. The company also offers the first maintenance visit with regards in one year or 10,000 miles.
The Limited Warranty covers three years or unlimited miles
The powertrain warranty covers three years or unlimited miles
Free maintenance is covered for 1 year or 10,000 miles
