Have you ever felt that some things if we get pregnant it’s nesting but it will make life heavy in vain.

Many people themselves may realize that they have flaws that bother them and find solutions. But sometimes those things have been with them for so long that it’s hard to get rid of them. And not everyone can handle it. Sometimes he goes so far that he feels like an obstacle or a core in life. But with some defects, we may not need to waste time to eliminate them. If we know how to handle her well enough, instead of killing the enemy, find a way to make friends with her. What if we were happy like…

Something even if it is stigmatized by ordinary people as bad. But it might be enough to have some advantages to look at.  Even if it doesn’t match the label people put on it. For example, laziness… Is it okay to be lazy? Over the past, many people have often told us that laziness is something that should not be taken into consideration. It is the source of lack of prosperity and failure, but if we look at the beautiful world, perhaps laziness is a small starting point. Things that create benefits for ourselves or the world, like creating new innovations sometimes comes from trying to find a solution. Make people’s life more convenient. Or even satisfy laziness

As in the sentence… Laziness is the mother of invention.

SUV / PPV cars that I had the opportunity to test drive this time. It is another model in our home market which is full of different technologies. It may not be the way of thinking to do things because they want to satisfy their laziness. But it is a strategy that wants to meet the needs of the customer group as closely as possible.

Ian Foston, Chief Global Program Engineer for SUVs (Ranger and Everest) Ford Motor Company USA. “He and the entire R&D team have been collecting data from consumers around the world just like the previous project. But this time, everyone is working hard to ensure that both the Ranger and Everest. A vehicle that meets consumers’ needs more than ever.”

The starting point for the development of the new Everest is not very different from the previous Ranger.  The main change point is the lengthening of the midsection. Including changes to mounting points for suspension components. When viewed from the outside, it can be seen that the distance from the front door frames and front wheel arches has increased in length.

Although Ford will only say that such a method allows the design team to have more fun with the lines on the side of the body. But many had speculated that they were preparing an alternative engine for both models in the future.

When the final phase of development is complete and has been in testing for a while, Ford has an interesting time to unveil the production version of the all-new Ford Everest to the public for the first time as Global Luanch Media on its online platform on March 1, 2022 before then. It has been disclosed in different markets. On our part, Ford Sales & Services (Thailand) brought the real car to open the hood at the Bangkok International Motor 202 event in Muang Thong Thani between March 21st and April 3rd 2022, starting with two sub-models: 2.0 Turbo Sport and 2.0 Bi-Turbo Titanium +4 x 4

Then, on July 11, 2022, Thai motoring media was invited to take part in a test drive of the new Everest in Kanchanaburi Province, the second Media Drive event after Vietnam. At the same time, new sub-models have been added to the Thai version of Everest to increase the ability to meet the needs of more diverse customers. This makes it the current Everest that is launched in our home. There are 4 sub-models to choose from:

  • Everest 2.0 Turbo Trend 4 × 2 6AT: 1,334,000 baht (new)
  • Everest 2.0 Turbo Sport 4×2 6AT: 1,464,000 baht
  • Everest 2.0 Bi-Turbo Titanium + 4×2 10AT: 1,704,000 baht (new)
  • Everest 2.0 Bi-Turbo Titanium + 4 × 4 10AT: 1,854,000 baht

(All models come with a manufacturer’s quality assurance program of 5 years or 150,000 km and Ford’s first-class warranty of 1 year)

In addition to the media tour, Ford is also preparing to hold a special customer test tour on July 27-28. Those interested can click to read more details here, but for those who aren’t fit to travel far, here’s the list. This article will take you to know about the new Ford Everest. If you’re ready, let’s go…

If you think the previous Everest summit was really huge the new generation is like the person who goes to do muscle training until the figure is modest muscular. Comes with the following external body dimensions

  • Length: 4914 mm.
  • Width: 1,923 mm.
  • Height: 1,842 mm.
  • Wheelbase length: 2900 mm.
  • Front / rear wheel width: 1,620 / 1,620 mm
  • Minimum distance from floor to undercarriage: 227 mm.

When trying to compare the exterior body dimensions to competitors in the SUV/PPV class, you’ll find that the Everest is still the most luxurious of the bunch. Confirm with the following numbers…

(Length x Width x Height / Wheelbase Length)

  • All-new Ford Everest: 4914 x 1923 x 1842/2900 mm.
  • Ford Everest (old model): 4,893 x 1,862 x 1,836 / 2,850 mm.
  • Toyota Fortuner: 4,795 x 1,855 x 1,835 / 2,750 mm.
  • Isuzu MU-X: 4850 × 1,870 × 1,875 / 2855 mm.
  • Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 4,825 x 1,815 x 1,835 / 2,800 mm.
  • Nissan Terra: 4,890 x 1,865 x 1,865 / 2,850 mm.

The exterior design is more American SUV.The front uses the headlights, grille and hood with the Ranger, but slightly adjusts the front bumper shell design to make it different from the pickup version. The side has a drop from the belt line or the bottom glass frame. To make the interior a bit more airy and look leaner on the outside while the rear was designed to appear wider by placing various elements closer to the outer edge install a set of Signature LED tail lights, the same length as the camper-joining SUV like the Explorer Minorchange.

Ford’s design team tries to choose the decoration to decorate the exterior of each sub-model to be different, starting with the Trend model, which comes with an unremarkable appearance for those who wish to decorate it. The Sport model is painted black. Various points such as the window frame, front grille and alloy wheels give a fierce look while the Titanium + model, the protagonist of this article will come with the most expensive exterior. It is designed with chrome bars to look good. It wouldn’t be much for him to become a quasi-Li Qi luxury. Which if so may seem immediately contrary to the character of the car.

All submodels come with headlights. Multi-Reflector LED with automatic headlight start-stop system, but the Top 2.0 Bi-Turbo Titanium + 4-wheel-drive model will be equipped with a MATRIX LED headlight cluster consisting of daytime running lights, LED C-Clamp daytime running light, LED turn signal light and LED headlight Cornering and projection lens LED beam with automatic beam angle adjustment according to steering wheel rotation up to 15 degrees and projection lens LED high beam complete the system. free.

Exterior body color There are 7 colors to choose from that consists of the Manee 7 Saeng

  • Silver metallic color
  • Gray meteorite
  • Black divorced
  • Bronze color Equinox
  • Blue Lightning (Sport models only)
  • White Snowflake White Pearl (additional payment 12,000 baht)
  • Orange Sedona Orange (pay additional 12,000 baht)

Door Lock System It is a Smart Keyless Entry Remote Control with Wave Key inside the remote control. When holding the key fob close to the vehicle, the door can be pulled open immediately. To command the door to lock, just use your finger to touch the black button. Or you can press the unlock button on the remote key as well. You can also use the lock function to unlock the car remotely. With the FordPass Connect app on a smartphone, including an immobilizer key system and a security alarm system installed as standard equipment from the factory.

The dual seat is 8-way power adjustable with Lumbar Supoort. The seat shape and seat face are more or less the same as the original model. The seat cushion is of medium length. The pillow wing is not very high. Holds the thighs only moderately. The backrest has been cut into a concave slot. Sit back and sink into more cushioning than the previous completely flat model. In terms of embracing the body, and not letting it sway when meeting the surface of the lunar road, it is considered better. As for the long trip, it will be just as good as the original seat. That there is sufficient distance to move the body left and right to relieve fatigue, or not, you must wait and see again

The front seat belt is a three-point ELR, and both positions are equipped with automatic retraction and tension systems. (Pre-tensioner and Load Limiter) It has a seat belt warning light. However, the lower-height of the belt attachment point at the B-Pillar cannot be adjusted.

Next, the second-row seats are split, 60:40-adjustable, the cushions can be moved up and down , and the backrest can recline more than the original model. In the middle there is an armrest that can be pulled down for use when needed. There are 2 cup holders, the headrest is inverted L-shaped, although not very comfortable on the neck. But for the driver who often looks in the rearview mirror. This headrest is fine.

The shape of the seat cushion If you look closely, it looks as if there is nothing different, but when you compare it to the original model from one corner to the other, you will find that the new model has been extended to the side of the seat cushion by about one centimeter, and the foam used is thick and soft like the original model. In general, it is considered comfortable to sit, not inferior to competitors. But if the seat cushion can be adjusted higher than that, it should help support the hip joint better. Make long-distance travel more comfortable

What was the highlight of Everest from the past has also been carried over to the present. This is the factory panoramic moonroof glass roof installation. Able to move glass panels and curtains open and closed to block sunlight. From a switch mounted above the rearview mirror as well as adding value to mind for some customers. It also helps to sit in the dark black cabin. Not so annoying

There are also 4-position circular air vents for the rear passengers on the roof deck. But the rotary switch for adjusting wind speed or opening and closing is mounted behind the storage bin attached from the center console. Close to USB A / USB C charging sockets and 230V AC outlets.

He reaches for the third row seat, which holds both of his top priority people. When choosing to buy this type of car including people who mainly focus on carrying luggage it has not been used even once since leaving the showroom

Although the second row seat rails are adjusted to move forward more than before, they will make the entry and exit channel wider and add more comfort for your children. But compared to other pairs, Everest is still second only to it. Because the second row seat cannot be folded to slam the back forward

The seats are bolted to the floor of the rear luggage compartment in the same way as the seats on all competitors, except for the Fortuner, which uses a fold-over flap for suspension. For an adult to take a third-row seat on Everest, it would take some kindness from the second-row passenger to move the seat forward. Otherwise, there will be almost no legroom in the back row to put your legs at all. It did not help the passengers of the third row to sit comfortably. Because in the end, the space under the second-row seats is still too tight to put your feet in anyway.

The fun of third-row seating isn’t all there yet. The 50:50 foldable backrest also has a steep angle that is not at all merciful to the seated person’s back. In addition, it cannot be modified differently. In my opinion, this is perhaps one of the few points of this car. It doesn’t get any better…but let’s be honest, aside from the MU-X, I’m not a fan of the back row seats of other PPVs either.

The tailgate can be opened and closed in four ways, either by pressing the switch on the remote key. Switch Over Rear License Plate Holder Switch is above the driver’s knee on the right side. Or use the hands-free function by placing your foot under the rear bumper to open and close the tailgate. It can also do this when the tailgate is gradually fully opened. You will find the rear luggage space as large as with the previous version. Under the floor of the luggage compartment there is a multi-purpose box that holds the winch. Car tools and 3 pcs of steel to tighten the spare tire opening from under the car. There is also enough space to put two pairs of housewife high heels.

The right wall of the storage room is the location for installing the light. Power Fold Third Row Seats Key When you fold the second and third row seats flat to the floor, you’ll have room to carry your camping gear. Bring the family to enjoy the joys of nature this holidays. Even if your child likes the idea of wanting to sleep in the car, there is nothing to worry about. Just find a moderately thick futon to lay on. Can sleep comfortably because the seat folds up to a slight slope but is considered fairly smooth. It is also issued to be raised a little higher. To prevent things like water bottles from rolling on the floor

The front end has been completely redesigned, following the coast-to-coast concept. Equipped with a 12-inch multi-touch screen with a 12.4-inch colorimetric array, in addition to using materials upholstered in soft leather. Walking on the real thread There are two storage compartments in the glove compartment box, top and bottom, including a foldable cup holder under the left and right air vents.

Overall, the dashboard is still retro and futuristic at the same time as the Ranger, but on the Everest it feels more luxurious according to the price. There is a decorative material similar to the glossy color of the wood pattern above the storage compartment. In addition, customers purchasing the Titanium+ model can pay an additional 12,000 baht for thread seams, seat covers, door panels and center console in Praline cream. Which is real I can tell it looks very good.

The steering wheel is a 3-spoke type that can be adjusted in 4 directions, high-low and close-away from the body, and the steering wheel is covered in leather. It has a plump size that fits nicely in the hand. And there is actual thread stitching that uses the switch on the left steering wheel stalk to adjust the instrument cluster display. Answer Turn off the phone and scroll through songs or radio waves The right side is used to control the operation of the automatic cruise control system. With a switch to adjust the distance from the vehicle in front of 4 levels, there is a switch to turn on and off the vehicle lane control system to keep the vehicle sound-activated and a switch to increase the volume down

Fronted on the center console panel is a wireless mobile phone charger, wireless charging with the USB Type A and Type C charging sockets. A little further back is the electric shift lever (E-Shift), which is only available on the Titanium + 4×4 model. Different gears are the same. Ordinary shaft gear unlike the general electric gear that can be found in European cars. Shifting into manual mode, of course, still requires pressing a button on the side of the shift lever, as Paddle Shift is only available on high-performance vehicles developed by Ford Performance.

Next to the gear lever is a two-position cup holder that has been moved to the right place. Easier to use than the original version. Next to the rear is the electric handbrake switch. Drivetrain and terrain management system adjustment switch. Convenient to pick up or use but some frequently used functions such as Auto Brake Hold would have been better separated from the utility screen.

The instrument cluster of the Titanium+ model is a 12.4 inch full digital display, larger than the Trend, Sport and Ranger Wildtrak models, the main function is divided into 3 parts, the far right side is the speedometer. The far left is the engine tachometer. Although it is more difficult to read than its traditional counterparts. But it is considered better than the 8-inch screen in the Ranger because of the size of the numbers. Larger and clearer while the center of the screen is used to display vehicle information such as coolant temperature, gear oil and engine oil. distance traveled as well as displaying driving information whether vehicle grade or consumption rate driving assistance and trip computer operation When driving modes are set this display will change colors and graphics according to that mode.

In general, it is considered that the gauge display is not easy to read. But getting points for clarity, beautiful graphics, and showing a wide variety of values at the same time is arguably the most advanced set of measurements among PPVs in this era. The only thing I would like to improve more in the future is the angle of the non-tiltable screen that matches the driver’s eye level. It doesn’t look natural and comfortable to look at at all.

Next, let’s take a look at something else on the front dash, which is the 12-inch multi-touch screen in the center, which has the same face as the Ranger, splitting the screen into two main parts below. Reserve space for displaying HVAC work. Set the temperature separately, left and right, providing a heater. The air distribution pattern, temperature setting or fan can be set using your finger on the screen and pressing a separate key below.

While the top screen is used to show the operation of the entertainment system that comes with voice control, the SYNC 4A supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections, and can also be used to display vehicle information such as the system. and a 360-degree view camera, as well as all system settings

What makes the Everest even more special than the Ranger is the parking assist function that was already integrated into the previous model. But this time, the program has been modified to satisfy more lazy people. Because the driver no longer has to go to the forward and reverse gear himself. The system will handle almost everything. Accelerate, turn the steering wheel and change gears. All the driver has to do is hold down the parking assist switch all the time. for safety

Engine, transmission/engine and drivetrain

Hydroform front structure, which uses high tensile steel to hold items inside the hood, latch must be opened from the front passenger side. It was carried over from the Ranger to Everest as a way to increase mounting space for various equipment. In the engine room, for example, a second battery, which served as a backup to the power outlets at various points, could position the engine behind the shaft. As well as creating a suitable distance between the ventilation system and the engine. This time, the heart of the Thai version of Everest will have two types to choose from:

Diesel 4 cylinder 2.0 turbo  for Trend and Sport models

It’s a 4-cylinder ECOBLUE, DOHC, 16-valve diesel engine, 2.0L, 1,996cc, bore x stroke 84 x 90mm, with compressed air accessory. VG-Turbocharged with Intercooler, maximum power of 170 horsepower (HP) at 3,500 rpm, maximum torque of 405 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm, fuel boost up to B20 level, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission

Diesel 4-cylinder 2.0 Bi-Turbo  for Titanium+ models, both RWD and 4WD

It is a four-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve, 2.0-liter, 1,996 cc diesel engine, bore x stroke 84 x 90 mm, with a compressed air system attached. Bi-turbocharged It has a small high pressure turbo (HP Turbo) connected to a large low pressure cylinder (LP Turbo) that controls the operation of both turbines with bypass valve and intercooler, maximum power 210 HP (PS) at 3750 rpm, Maximum torque 500 Nm at 1750 – 2000 rpm, fuel support up to B20 level, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission

The 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine is the same block that was installed in previous Everest and Ranger models, but has improved calibrations and various parts. If you look at the numbers, 3 horsepower is gone while the torque remains the same. It came on the same rev

The ten-speed automatic transmission paired with the 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine is based on the previous model. But the engineering team adjusted the first gear ratio. To be more convenient Besides changing the new torque converter, resulting in less energy loss in the system with increased torque density or torque density, the torque from the engine is transmitted completely through the transmission to the wheels, which is where the Titanium + 4×4 model gets On an electronic transmission with Fully Park Assist. While the Titan+ 4×2 still uses the regular shift knob with other models.

However, both still retain the typical Ford essence that comes with the manual mode +/- button on the side of the gear knob. For racing fans who like to change gear themselves, that may be “I don’t like this” but what do I do? Since then, the engineering team has reserved the Ford Performance family’s Paddle Shift transmission for high-performance vehicles only.

As I said at the beginning, Ford provided customer feedback to improve many aspects of the vehicle’s characteristics. One of them is to change the 4WD system from full time 4WD to part time 4WD to meet the needs of most target groups who want more savings. It looks like it might offend a 4th drive line running on a black road, but at least the gimmicks be it a locking rear differential and decent control on hills, it’s still fully bolted on. But it may not be as easy to use as it should be. Because you have to press the shortcut button next to the traction control off button before you can set it on the center display.

This is offset by an increase in driving modes from 4 to 6, which can be customized via the Terrain Management control switch located behind the gear lever.

  • NORMAL   FOR NORMAL GENERAL USE
  • ECO  shifts   up to a higher gear faster Using low engine speed reduces the work of the A/C. to save more fuel
  • TOW/HAUL  Adjusts the gear operation to be at the correct engine rev to create the pulling torque
  • SLIPPERY  adjusts engine and transmission performance. Slower throttle response and automatically switch to 4H driving mode
  • MUD & RUTS   automatically switches to 4H drive like SLIPERY but allows the wheels to turn fully, turns off traction control and automatically activates Diff-lock (4WD models only).
  • SAND,  the drivetrain at 4h and Diff-lock remain active, and the stability control system’s response has been modified to be more sensitive. (only for 4×4 models)

Steering system / steering wheel

The steering system is a rack-and-pinion mechanism, and with the exception of the Chevrolet Trailblazer that rolled the mats home, the Everest remains the only PPV on the market right now. It is equipped with rack and pinion with electronic power steering

how / how

Front suspension it is an independent type, 2 wishbones with coil springs, twin-tube shock absorbers and stabilizer bar (double wishbone with coil spring and anti-roll bar), the rear is Watt-link type with coil springs, twin-tube shock absorbers and stabilizer bar (spring File with wat joint and anti-slip bar)

brake/braking system

The braking system is disc brakes on all four wheels, the front is disc brakes with ventilated discs (ventilated discs), but the rear is ordinary solid disc brakes.

All sub-models are improved with the help of basic assistants. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), TCS (Traction Control System), but only for the Titanium+ model, both rear-wheel drive. And only the all-wheel drive system will have an electronic brake booster.

Safety and Driving Assistance System / Safety and Driving Assistance System

All new Ford Everest subcompact models come with the following basic safety systems

  • 7 airbags
    • Front airbags
    • Side airbags
    • curtain air bag
    • Driver’s knee airbag
  • Emergency assistance system
  • Front and rear parking distance alarms
  • Anti-lock brake system
  • Electronic brake distribution
  • Stability control system (ESP)
  • Anti-freewheel rotation system (traction control)
  • Hill Start Assist (Hill Start Assist)
  • Roll Over Mitigation System

If you think the above systems aren’t just for you and your family, Ford also has an advanced supplemental safety system installed. But on condition that you only switch to the Titanium + model, which consists of

  • Automatic Braking with Pedestrian Detection (AEB with Pedestrian Detection)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW with Brake Support)
  • Post-collision braking system reduces the severity of the second collision (post-collision braking).
  • System to assist in controlling the vehicle in the lane (lane keeping system)
  • Lane departure warning system
  • Blind Spot Detection & Parking Detection System (BSIS with CTA & Braking)
  • Anti-collision system when reversing at 2-12 km/h (Reverse Brake Assist)
  • Evasive Steer Assist
  • Hill Decent Control only for 4WD models

driving test

ford everest 2.0
ford everest 2.0

Arriving to help with a test drive this time, Ford organized an activity in the Si Sawat area. Kanchanaburi The team intends to create a place for brothers and sisters in Thai and foreign media. And also interested customers have the opportunity to try using the vehicle highlight function also engage in a test track driving on and off road, but only for one hour and only about 26 kilometers, some things I might almost touch.

Let’s start with acceleration. Having said that, both the new Ranger and new Everest with the twin-turbo diesel 2.0 still have a similar responsive personality to the original model. That is, it has good mid-cycle traction. And it flows continuously up to 3,600 – 3,700 rpm, but without heavy pulling for a short while along the lines of a single-turbo block engine like the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 or Isuzu MU-X 3.0, you’ll feel that the power between the back and seat isn’t as brutal as the market leaders, though. That agility at speed is almost an imperative that this Nissan Terra 2.3 Twin-Turbo offer is the same.

Throttle response has been improved, and in normal mode it feels shallower and stickier. In normal use the difference doesn’t make you feel better or worse. But when driving on a bumpy road, it is sometimes necessary to use the weight of the right foot to control the speed to the correct level. Not so much that it hits the hill to stop my heart. Or so little that it is difficult to pass the obstacles

Operation of the 10AT automatic transmission in the Gradual Upshift clutch stage. Hold and try to keep the engine rpm in the maximum power range. This custom has been around since the last generation Ranger Minorchange and Everest, but the fitment in this episode is much smoother. Visibly smoother than the original model. The shiver sensation before the car flies away as I experienced in the original model car. It doesn’t seem to be seen in the new version at all.

However, due to limited testing at the time so I couldn’t find new Everest acceleration numbers at all, I had to wait for the test results from J! MMY and Mark Pongsawang in the later period…

In terms of handling, the new Everest still insists on using the electric power-assisted power system. But adjusting the weight to be stickier around one hand, the result is that running straight on the wheel is much more stable. You feel more relaxed while taking on a curve that has to be traversed back and forth. Extra weight makes it easier to return the rear wheel drive smoothly out of corners than in the previous model. It is a solution to the weaknesses of the previous Everest model which had a properly light steering wheel. Because it is not so heavy that it loses its maneuverability while searching for a parking space at the mall or using it at low speed.

For suspension, Ford describes a new twin-tube shock system, but doesn’t say whether viscosity has been increased or decreased. I haven’t gotten away with using a monotube like the Ranger Wildtrak, but the result is reduced rippling symptoms when encountering a undulating road surface Tested on the original Minorchange model Clearly, though not yet in the phase, still, steady, confident, like the Model The first is with a 2.2 – 3.2 liter engine, but it is a good balance point, both absorb vibrations to satisfy the elderly people sitting in the passenger seat while the driver still does not feel intimidated by a sudden yaw. Or hurry up on a rush day

If compared to competitors in the PPV range, the new Everest has a similar level of suspension stiffness as the Nissan Terra. – Toyota Fortuner GR Sport, which looks more like a package to please the driver. This bully makes me secretly hope in my heart that I want the Everest to have a subcompact model that has a harder-than-normal suspension set. Please take care of the server with heavy feet if possible.

But hey, at least it wasn’t the steering and suspension adjustments that made me feel better. Retuning brake pedal response is heartbreaking, too. It’s true that the old Everest had brake pads and discs that didn’t do well at stopping speed. But I failed the test because the brake pedal was too deep. As if it was deliberately set to make the brakes soft. There are no symptoms of dizziness, but this slows the car down. It should allow more braking distance than other PPV cars. When you are a new model, they reduce the free distance. The response is already at the same level as the competitors.

In addition, soundproofing at 100 km / h found that the sound of the wind hitting the large side-view mirror, similar to a pickup truck or PPV, was much quieter than the previous model. As for the engine noise emitted in the cabin close to the original version, neither quieter nor louder, it is also the highlight of the Everest that is passed on to the new generation. But don’t expect it to be as quiet as the European diesel sedan. Or even Mazda 2 Skyactiv-D, not yet at this level.
