BMW x3 2021
Despite being an SUV, the 2021 BMW X3 will surprise with its fun- to-drive nature , a hallmark of the brand’s sports sedans over the years. The available triple engine lineup offers plenty of performance, particularly the daring 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged on the M40i sports model. While competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class and Volvo XC60 offer a slightly elevated interior,
X3 passengers are treated to a well-trimmed cabin with a very conservative design that offers plenty of room for adults in both the front and rear seats. A host of tech features make the X3 a well-connected SUV, and behind the foldable second row there’s plenty of room for all kinds of luggage, groceries, home improvement tools, and any of the other gear an SUV is expected to carry.

BMW has added several standard features to the 2021 X3 lineup, including Android Auto smartphone connectivity and SiriusXM satellite radio. All models now come standard with the Active Driving Assistant package, which includes driver assistance features such as lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring. The high-performance xDrive30e and M40i hybrid models both come standard with a digital gauge cluster.
Regardless of the exact output power, all BMW engines have the same power and improved qualities. While the 382-horsepower M40i’s six-cylinder engine spurs it to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, we’d suggest buyers stick with the standard 248-hp four-cylinder, which is pretty powerful.
The turbocharged four-cylinder teamed up with the excellent eight-speed automatic transmission to make it easier to get through traffic and sipping on fuel on the highway. The entry X3 sDrive30i powers the rear wheels only. That wouldn’t be a problem for anyone who lives in the Sun Belt, but buyers in the snowy states will want to upgrade to the all-wheel drive xDrive30i model.
Engine, transmission and performance BMW x3 2021
With a 248-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood , the sDrive30i rear-wheel drive and xDrive30i all-wheel drive system provide enough power to comfortably negotiate almost any traffic situation, but they’re hardly exhilarating. On our test track, the xDrive 30i required 6.2 seconds to reach 60 mph; We didn’t test the sDrive30i model, nor did we test the xDrive30e plug-in hybrid. The Porsche Macan S and Audi Q5 were both faster in our tests – largely a Porsche too. Those looking for a crossover will find the X3 M40i more to their liking. Its 382bhp inline-six engine delivers an almost massive 382bhp of power,
It beats all versions of the Macan Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 with 4.4 seconds from zero to 60 mph. A plug-in hybrid model with up to 31 miles of electric driving range will join the lineup soon. The X3 still feels more efficient than some current BMW sedans; It’s fun to drive and a desire to get around corners better than expected, although it doesn’t offer the Macan’s levels of sportiness. The ride quality is well balanced with just enough firmness for an inspiring feel without resulting in a rough ride over rough terrain surfaces. Our test car came with an option we highly recommend, the adaptive suspension. It’s called Dynamic Damper Control, and it adds Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro driving modes to the xDrive30i. Available on the M40i, Adaptive M suspension lowers the chassis by 0.4 inches.
Fuel economy bmw x3 2021
Judging the X3 by its EPA ratings, it only places it between its competitors but our test car, the xDrive30i and M40i, beat its efficiency ratings in our real-world tests. The M40i’s high-powered (29 mpg) engine came surprisingly close to the xDrive30i’s four-cylinder (31 mpg), which means there’s a bit of a highway fuel economy penalty for all that extra power.
Interior, comfort and cargo BMW x3 2021
The X3’s elegant interior comes well-appointed before you check one option box; The 10-way power-adjustable front seats, which include adjustable side bolsters, make it easy to find a comfortable position. Rear seat passengers are handled on reclining seat backs, and cushioning in all seats is soft enough for long trips. The rest of the X3’s cabin is efficiently elegant and beautiful, with well-chosen materials and tight gaps.
The glossy wood grain on our test car looked and felt real despite being plastic. The dashboard and faux-leather door covers add an extra element of luxury, as does the nickel-plated metal trim. The X3 is roughly average for the portion on our handbag test. Seven hand luggage fits behind the second row – enough for each passenger to have one, with room left for two extras – and 20 fits in total with the rear seats folded. However, the champion cargo transport in this segment is the Cadillac XT5. Heavy transporters should put this on their short list.
Information, entertainment and contact BMW x3 2021
The BMW iDrive interface provides everything a modern luxury car’s infotainment system should have. A 10.3-inch infotainment screen is standard and features inboard navigation as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth phone connectivity, Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB port are standard, but every other infotainment feature is offered as an optional extra; For those looking to power two devices simultaneously, a second USB port is optional as is the wireless smartphone charging pad.
Safety and driver assistance features BMW x3 2021
The 2021 X3 has received a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and was not selected as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). A full range of driver assistance features are available, but BMW offers the basics as standard equipment. Key safety features include:
Standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Forward Collision Warning
Standard Lane Departure Warning
Available adaptive cruise control
Warranty and maintenance coverage
BMW’s warranty offers on the X3 do not stand out among its competitors; A basic four-year or 50,000-mile warranty is essentially the same as a course in this sector. Three years of free scheduled maintenance is nice, but it’s something the Volvo XC60 and Cadillac XT5 also offer.
The limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles
Powertrain warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles
Free scheduled maintenance covered for 3 years or 36000 miles
