Chevrolet Blazer Despite sharing a name with one of Chevy’s most popular SUVs , the 2021 Blazer is a regular crossover with exaggerated styling. With its bold front end and plush bodywork, this mid-size two-row definitely stands out, even compared to its various competitors. The Blazer underpins its sporty look with attractive driving dynamics, especially when equipped with a 308-horsepower V-6 engine and all-wheel drive system.The torque vector of the RS model. Those who want the most desirable features and the highest driver assistance will have to buy the most expensive models, reducing Chevy’s value against the competition. For 2021, the Blazer lineup benefits from several minor updates. The Safety Assist package that includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, forward pedestrian detection and lane keep assist, is now standard on 2LT, 3LT, RS and Premier trim levels. The front-wheel drive V-6 pots can now be equipped with a towing package that allows this configuration to tow up to 4,500 lbs. versus the standard 1500 lbs. A range of new paint colors are also now available and include Pewter, Iron Gray, Cayenne Orange and Cherry Red.
While we enjoy the RS model’s improved handling traits and a more aggressive exterior design, it’s not the best value. In fact, the Jacket is more expensive than most competitors, especially when selected with desirable features, which are only available on RS and Premier. Instead, we recommend the 2LT trim level. Not only does this unlock the more powerful V-6 and all-wheel drive options, but this combination can tow 4,500 pounds when equipped with the towing package. We’re also adding a Comfort and Driver Confidence Package that includes heated front seats, remote start, an electric tailgate, and plenty of driver assistance technologies.
Engine, Transmission and Performance Chevrolet Blazer
The Blazer features a standard 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 230-hp turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an optional 3.6-liter V6 with 308 horsepower. All three pairs come with a nine-speed automatic transmission, but only a turbocharged four-cylinder and a V-6 with all-wheel drive are available. The front-wheel drive version has enough power to get around the city and work on the highways.
However, the V-6 delivers impressive acceleration and provides extra confidence when passing on the highway. The automatic transmission was as fast as the last Blazer RS model we tested, sluggish in downshifts when we wanted a quick boost of acceleration. The four-cylinder models can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the V-6 versions can handle up to 4,500 pounds. With firm composure and precise direction,
The jacket is easily the best crossover to wear a Chevrolet tie. It was confident and responsive on twisty sections of the road, especially the RS model, which features exclusive steering and suspension tuning. However, even the four-cylinder version we drove was more attractive than many competitors. Its 18-inch wheels provided a smoother, quieter ride than the large 21-inch RS model, which was rolling off-road. Fortunately, both models kept gripping on flat surfaces and at highway speeds. The precise steering feedback was satisfactory during the spirited sessions but smooth at low speed. The stationary brake pedal immediately responded to our input, and the brakes stopped the Blazer RS test vehicle from 70 mph in an impressive 165 feet.

The EPA estimates that the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder Blazer will gain up to 21 mpg city and 27 highway. The Turbo-4 is rated at up to 22 mpg city and 29 highway, and the V-6 version is a little thirstier than both at up to 20 mpg city and 27 highway. The Blazer we tested with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine gained 26 mpg on highway fuel economy at 75 mpg, which simulates real-world mpg and is part of our comprehensive test regimen. The all-wheel drive V-6 version got 24 mpg in the same test. However, we did not test the highway fuel economy of the Turo-four.
Interior, comfort and cargo
Inside, the Blazer’s design is heavily inspired by the Chevy Camaro, with an easy-to-use climate control system that features round vents below the center console. These vents can be bent to adjust temperature settings. Visual trims include soft-touch plastics and a two-tone color scheme. While fancier models receive leather surfaces and brighter materials, our mid-level test car had a lot of cheap, mostly gray parts. Blazer also provides desirable content, such as ambient interior lighting,
Heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The front seats in our test car had little cushions that lacked support, but the back seat had plenty of stretching space that would comfort everyone on long trips. With 31 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 64 with the seats folded, we were able to fit 11 and 26 handbags, respectively. There are many storage solutions for small items, including the ledges on the front door panels that are ideal for smartphones. There’s a decently sized cubby at the front of the center console as well, and the bin has good space, and it works without organization. The rear seat is less fancy, with a trunk in the back of the center console and small pockets in the door.

Each Blazer comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The interface of the system is attractive and easy to operate, but the rotary console will be useful in reducing distractions. A pair of USB ports located on the front and rear of the center console are standard; A 120V outlet is also available on some models. The Blazer can also be equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, built-in navigation, and wireless phone charging.
