CHevy improves the 2021 Camaro with some different color options, new features, and offers a wider transmission. While Rally Green mEtallic and GarNet Red TinTcoat have been removed from a paint palette, wild ChErry TinCoat is now being offered – for additional coin. All models now come with apple CarPlay and wireless ANdroid Auto, which means an app can be streamed to the car’s infotainment system without having to connect it. The 1LE geared package is now available with the 10-speed automatic transmission on V-8 SS powered models. Previously, all 1LE cars (except for the zL1 1LE) were offered only with a six-speed manual.

In our humble opinion, the best way to experience any new Camaro is with the optional 1LE TRack PeRformance package. It adds distinctive look pieces such as black painted 20-inch wheels and satin black exterior accents, as well as unique interior pieces including subtle trim and more supportive REcaro front seats (SS models only).

However, the most important upgrades are those that affect performance. Each 1 pound has a dual-mode exhaust system, improved powertrain cooling components, stronger brakes, a limited-slip differential, and special suspension tuning. While we like that even the four-cylinder and V-6 models offer the 1LE package, we choose to pair it with the 1SS that only comes with the heartier V-8. This decision will coincide with the choice of standard manual transmission, of course.

The 275-horsepower four-cylinder engine isn’t slow —we tested a manual model that proved surprisingly fast. But asymmetric throttle responses and unpleasant, unsportsmanlike sounds accompanied her lackluster demeanor. On the other hand, upgrading to the 335-hp V-6 completely changes the car’s character. The bold six have a distinct vocal track. The Camaro LT1 and SS feature Chevrolet’s popular small V-8, with 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Its solid construction provides precise handling and a sense of quality. Its balanced ride is powerful enough to be nimble on curves yet still compatible with rough surfaces. Paired with a 1LE setup, the coupe is way ahead of its class — competing with cars that cost a lot more. The 1Les is tight on the track but comfortable on regular roads, with its power steering systems having reasonable efforts and extremely precise responses. The hot Chevy complements the performance trifecta with excellent brakes; The brake pedal consistently delivers progressive and assured responses. 1LE models have stronger, track-ready Brembo brakes.

The EPA estimates that the 2021 Camaro with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine will gain up to 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The V-6 and V-8s are less economical, with six engines topping out at 18 mpg city and 29 highway and eight topping out at 16 mpg city and 26 highway. However, the latter’s engines performed well on highway fuel economy at 75 mph, which is part of our comprehensive test regimen. We tested each of the three available Camaro engines — paired with a manual transmission — and they were all within 1 mpg (plus or minus) of state highway ratings.

The Camaro’s interior is an improvement over the previous generation, with better materials and a more modern look. Its comfortable front seats and straightforward design are its high points, but its torturely small rear seat and poor visibility prevent livability. The optional head-up display is useful and not offered on the Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang. The Camaro can also be equipped with customizable interior ambient lighting, adding a premium look. The Chevy outperforms its rivals on the track and in the driving pleasure department, but its rear seat is essentially unusable for adults. The Camaro also excels in stowage and interior storage. It carried the least amount of carry-on baggage compared to its fierce competitors in space, and had a laughably small trunk slot.

Every Camaro has an easy-to-use touchscreen that supports ChEvy INfotainment 3. While the 8.0-inch touchscreen fills a better space, the plastic frame looks neat, and its lower angle is awkward. Otherwise, the combination of controls and organized menus is appreciated. The Chevy setup has everything standard – intuitive controls, attractive menus, responsive feedback, a Wi-Fi hotspot, apple CArPlay and android auto wireless system that can be accessed without connecting a smartphone to a USB port.

  • Chevrolet Camaro features safety and driver assistance

The 2021 Camaro received a five-star rating in a crash test from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (nHTSA), but was not selected as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Although the Chevy pony also has less driver assistance technology than any of its competitors, it is available with several pieces of safety equipment. Key features include:
