Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021
Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021
2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer Chevy revived the Trailblazer nameplate with an all- new compact crossover that has a sporty look but lacks the off-road capability of the larger SUV that carried the name. The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer slots between the small Chevrolet Trax and the mid-size Chevy Blazer, the latter inspiring the new chassis. The Trailblazer shares many components with the all-new, similarly sized Buick Encore GX, including the available drivetrain and engines. A twin of the turbocharged three-cylinder engines are offered with a 1.2-liter as standard and a 1.3-liter unit as an upgrade. Neither provide quick acceleration, but the Trailblazer’s roomy cabin and sleek styling might be enough to convince buyers to overlook the powertrain’s shortcomings.
The 2021 Trailblazer starts at less than $20,000, which makes it cheaper than the Trax, but that low base price doesn’t buy a very desirable SUV. The base model is short on equipment — it sports hubcaps instead of alloy wheels and comes in only one color: white. While the more expensive Activ and RS models feature a robust and sporty design, respectively, we think the LT trim is the best value. We also recommend choosing the larger 1.3-liter engine with all-wheel drive for an additional $2,000.
Engine, transmission and performance
As with the Encore GX, the Trailblazer offers two different three-cylinder turbocharged engines, the 1.2-liter and the 1.3-liter. The former produces 137 horsepower and the latter produces 155 horsepower. The 1.2-liter engine comes only with front-wheel drive and is equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the 1.3-liter engine offers optional all-wheel drive. The choice of all-wheel drive also replaces the standard CVT with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. The acceleration of the 1.3-liter all-wheel drive Trailblazer failed to impress us on our test track,
It delivered 9.4 seconds from zero to 60 mph. Around town at slower speeds, the Trailblazer feels more lively than test results suggest, but merging on the highway or executing high-speed passing maneuvers requires careful planning. While the Trailblazer doesn’t offer a particularly sporty chassis, it handles curves fine enough — but its ride is often rough due to road imperfections.
Fuel Economy 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
The Trailblazer’s most efficient model, according to the EPA, is the front-wheel drive model with the largest 1.3-liter three-cylinder, which has ratings of 29 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. . Upgrading to all-wheel drive reduces those numbers to 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined.
We tested the four-wheel drive model and it delivered 31 mpg over 200 miles of highway driving. We didn’t run the Trailblazer with a smaller 1.2-liter and front-wheel drive on our highway test loop, but the EPA’s fuel economy estimates for this model are 28 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 29 mpg city. gallons combined.
Interior, comfort and cargo
The cabin design is not as straightforward as the exterior , but it is spacious, functional and equipped with a lot of ergonomic elements in the upper edges. The driving position is elevated, like an SUV and there is plenty of room for two adults to be comfortable in the back seat. Although most of the interior is made of black plastic, everything is dressed up in an attractive texture to avoid looking cheap. Top-level models add colorful accents and chrome trim that provide a more sophisticated look. Behind the rear seat there is plenty of room for cargo, and the Chevy not only offers rear seats that fold flat, but also offers a front passenger seat that folds down to make room for extra-long items. It’s a smart feature, but the Trailblazer isn’t quite a match for the cargo transportation innovation offered by the Honda HR-V.
Information Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021, entertainment and contact
The Trailblazer will be equipped with Chevy’s latest infotainment system, which will allow you to connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard but the 8.0-inch unit is optional. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration will be available as well as Sirius XM satellite radio and a choice of technology package that allows wireless connections to both smartphone interfaces. A four-speaker stereo system is standard on the base L but an upgrade to higher trims offers either a six-speaker setup or a Bose stereo with seven speakers.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn’t done a test on the new Trailblazer yet, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has. Unfortunately, it only got four out of five stars from NHTSA because it didn’t do well in that agency’s passenger front crash test. Chevrolet equips every Trailblazer with a suite of basic driver assistance features and makes more advanced features, such as adaptive cruise control, optional. Key safety features include:
Standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
Standard Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning
Available adaptive cruise control
Warranty and Safety Coverage 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Chevrolet’s standard warranty coverage is a dead average when compared to many of the Trailblazer’s competitors. Are you looking for something with a longer warranty? Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport all offer up to 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. The Trailblazer’s first scheduled maintenance visit is free, which is unusual among competitors, but Hyundai is beating Chevy here with a three-year free maintenance plan.
The limited warranty covers 3 years or 36000 miles
Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles
Free maintenance is covered for the first visit
