Chevrolet Traverse 2021

Chevrolet Traverse 2021

Chevrolet Traverse Chevrolet is the family school bus brand, it offers not one , not two, but three SUVs. Among those three is the 2021 Traverse. Sitting next to a Suburban and Tahoe in the showroom, the Traverse differentiates itself from its brethren by offering a more car-like driving experience (that is, it’s not a pickup truck). The powerful 3.6-liter V-6 runs smoothly and quietly under the hood, and up to eight passengers can rest in relative comfort within the Traverse’s spacious cabin. Infotainment technology is plentiful, even on the base model, but the Traverse’s offering disappoints when compared to competitors of the same size that offer a more luxurious feel—namely, the Kia Telluride and its twin Hyundai Palisade.

What’s new for 2021? Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet planned to release the updated Traverse for 2021, but it was pushed into 2022 thanks to the coronavirus pandemic that shuttered manufacturing facilities around the world. The Traverse will transition from 2020 to 2021 without any changes while Chevrolet prepares the improved 2022 model for primetime.

Given the number of trim levels Chevy offers on the Traverse, you’re sure to find one that fits your budget, but the finer details get a big notch once you get to the RS model. It comes standard with a slew of features, including 20-inch wheels, heated front seats, automatic high-beam headlights, interior navigation, a home-style 120-volt outlet in the rear center console, leather upholstery, and a steering wheel. Heated, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist, and dual exhaust with sporty rectangular finishes.

  • Engine, transmission and performance

The powerful engine gives the V-6 its legs , and the nine-speed automatic transmission shifts gears unnoticeably. The 3.6-liter V-6 pulls hard and the Traverse is the fastest in its class. The cabin is so quiet that you need to glance at the tachometer to ensure the engine is running while there is a stop sign. And that might not be the case, given that Traverse features what may be the smoothest auto shutdown feature we’ve tested. When parking or maneuvering at low speed, the Traverse feels compact. Pick up speed, however, and the big Chevy handles like a much smaller car — poised, if not overtly sporty. Steering effort is low, but the system is subtle and makes steering a large SUV a breeze. The Traverse’s suspension system strikes a fine balance between agility and ride comfort.

  • Chevrolet Traverse fuel economy

Judge the Traverse by its mid-tier EPA fuel economy numbers, and you’ll do so with only half the information. In our real-world tests, the all-wheel drive Traverse High Country’s V6 delivered 27 mpg, the best highway fuel economy among its main competitors.

  • Chevrolet Traverse interior, comfort and cargo cabin

Traverse offers spacious accommodations for seven or eight passengers, including a third row for adults. Chevrolet’s six-tier model lineup offers buyers plenty of choice, and premium content naturally increases with price. The higher-level material in High Country is great but slightly below expectations due to the label of this lofty edition. As for space, we found that six handbags could be carried behind the third row, which is impressive for this class. Drop all of the Traverse’s foldable seats and you’ll be a cargo-carrying champion, with more space than any of its competitors. It offers the largest first-class storage space in its class, too.

  • Information, entertainment and communication

USB ports have been carefully placed throughout the Traverse’s cabin, and the SUV’s infotainment system is easy to use and responsive, with color graphics, a highly-installed touchscreen, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.

  • Safety and driver assistance features

The 2021 Traverse received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but was not named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Unfortunately, most driver assistance features are only available on the two higher-priced models (while some competitors offer these as standard). Key safety features include:

 Blind spot monitoring available

 Forward collision warning available

Help is available to keep track

Warranty and maintenance coverage

The one thing that sets the Traverse apart from its peers is the only free maintenance visit. Otherwise, the warranty coverage offered by Chevrolet is average for this segment.

The limited warranty covers three years or 36000 miles

Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles

Free maintenance is covered for the first visit
