RS Q8 2021audi

audi With a whopping 591 horsepower under the hood, the 2021 Audi RS Q8 is Audi’s best SUV , borrowing elements of the outrageous Lamborghini Urus while still incorporating the distinctive design of the German luxury brand. All models come with Quattro all-wheel drive as standard, and Audi says this beast can sprint to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. The cabin is covered in layers of premium materials – including nappa leather upholstery and your choice of either genuine carbon fiber or wood trim. All of Audi’s latest tech gadgets are standard here, too, including the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster and the dual-screen infotainment system. Not into a high-performance SUV? Audi presents this powertrain in the agile RS6 Avant station wagon.

The RS Q8 comes with a six-figure price tag, but it’s likely worth the investment, performance, design and premium content. All RS Q8 models come with standard adaptive air suspension, 22-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, and a Bang & Olufsen 17-speaker stereo system.

Engine, transmission and performance audi

The RS Q8 features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic, and there’s also a 48-volt hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency. Audi claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph, and we look forward to testing that claim on our test track when the RS Q8 visits our testing office. In November 2019, Audi set a record at the Nürburgring with a camouflaged prototype of the RS Q8.

audi fuel economy

EPA fuel economy estimates for the RS Q8 are a dismal city of 13 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. That’s the price you pay for the performance capabilities of the RS Q8. We haven’t had a chance to test the RS Q8 on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test road, but when we do we’ll update this story with its test results.

interior cabin comfort and cargo audi

The five-seater cabin of the RS Q8 is mostly the same as the Q8 cabin, although it does have some specialty trim and sportier, bolstered front seats to keep you in place while cornering. There are also RS logos scattered throughout. Passenger and cargo space is carried unchanged from the regular Q8, meaning there’s plenty of legroom and headroom for adults in both rows of seats. In our tests, the Q8 carried eight handbags behind its back seat and 23 bags in total with the rear seat folded.

infotainment and contact audi

The Audi Virtual Cockpit’s digital instrument cluster and dual MMI touch interface have RS specific displays that can display information such as torque, power output, lap times and g-forces. Other than that, we’d expect the same technology featured in the Q8, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

safety and driver assistance features

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) did crash tests on the RS Q8, but the regular Q8 performed well in testing by both agencies. Audi offers several driver assistance systems in the RS Q8, but some of the most sought-after systems require the addition of an optional package. Key safety features include:

Standard Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection

Lane departure warning with lane-keep assist

 Available adaptive cruise control

Warranty and maintenance coverage

Audi offers an average standard warranty that, in comparison with other premium brands, seems very basic. Jaguar offers more value here, with longer warranties and five years of free scheduled maintenance.

The limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles

The powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles

Free scheduled maintenance is covered for 1 year or 10,000 miles
