audi itron The 2021 Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback are all-electric crossovers that straddle the line between present and future. While battery-powered powertrains and all-wheel drive deliver up to 222 miles of EPA-estimated driving range and spell the doom of internal combustion engines, refined driving styles and quiet interiors like non-electric Audi models currently occupy showrooms. These distinctive traits combined with their traditional exterior designs make e-trons look less revolutionary than luxury EV competitors such as the Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X. Although the 2021 e-tron and e-tron Sportback have shorter driving ranges than Jaguar or Tesla Audi believes this more conservative approach will make the transition from traditional gas-powered models to electric vehicles easier for buyers.

For 2021, Audi is offering a more affordable base model with the premium rating. Available in both the regular version and the Sportback e-tron, it costs about $9,000 less than the mid-level Premium Plus. It can also be equipped with the Convenience Plus package, which includes driver assistance such as adaptive cruise control. Audi is also improving the capacity and efficiency of the available e-tron battery. The regular e-tron now has a driving range of 222 miles — 18 more than its predecessor. The Premium Plus cover adds dual charging ports, too, so there’s now one port on each side of the car.
We love the price point for the entry-level premium trim, and pairing it with the sleeker Sportback helps the e-tron attract more attention. This combination benefits from upscale standard features such as 20-inch wheels, blind spot monitoring, heated front seats, four-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof. We’ll add even more desirable equipment with the optional Convenience Plus package that offers black exterior trim, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and a 360-degree camera system. We also choose the tow package to use the e – 4,000 lb towing capacity.
Engine, transmission and performance audi itron

Under the heavily creased bodywork there are two electric motors, one located in the front axle and the other in the rear. Together they provide electronic all-wheel drive, but the rear-wheel drive does most of the work. In normal driving situations, they generate a combined 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque. However, setting the transmission in Sport mode briefly unlocks 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet. Our initial driving impressions revealed that the e-tron was fast and composed.
Its quick acceleration is typical of electric cars, and the quality of the smooth and quiet ride confirmed its goodwill. Its stopping system expertly blended its conventional brakes with mandatory regenerative braking. However, we were disappointed that its revamp wasn’t aggressive enough to enable one-pedal driving while we tested the Sportback. However, the e-tron shows off the characteristics of a traditional SUV with the ability to tow up to 4,000 pounds.
Range, charging and battery life for the audi itron
The regular e-tron has an estimated driving range of 222 EPA miles, and the Sportback version is rated at 218 miles. The previous figure is higher than before, but both versions still track competitors like the 2020 Jaguar I-Pace (234 miles) and Tesla Model X Long Range (up to 371 miles). Each e-tron is compatible with 150.0 kW fast chargers that allow it to replenish 80 percent of its battery in about 30 minutes. Those using a conventional 240-volt outlet will be able to fully charge the e-tron in about nine hours.
fuel economy
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the 2021 e-tron will earn a combined 78 MPGe. The Sportback model is rated slightly lower at 77 mpg combined. We tested both chassis styles on our 75-mph highway for fuel economy, which is part of our comprehensive test regimen. The regular e-tron returned 67 mpg and the Sportback returned 75 MPGe. For comparison, the last I-Pace we evaluated achieved 64 MPGe in the same test.
Interior, comfort and cargo audi itron
The e-tron’s most impressive technology is its electrical systems, but the five-seat crossover also features a sophisticated and practical cabin. Its dashboard is filled with multiple high-resolution displays that include Audi’s digital instrument cluster – called the Virtual Cockpit – and two touch screens in the middle. naturally ,
A variety of high-end options such as a head-up display and massage front seats add extra roundness to the e-tron’s sophisticated interior, which benefits from a flat floor thanks to the underfloor battery pack. This helps provide the regular e-tron with a generous 29 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear row and 57 with the seats folded flat. The Sportback’s sloping roofline reduces both shapes by two cubes, but we still fit seven hand luggage behind its rear seats — one less than the ones on the regular e-tron.
infotainment and contact audi itron

Each e-tron infotainment system is powered by dual touchscreens, with a 10.1-inch screen on top and an 8.8-inch unit below. While the upper screen provides access to the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps as well as the available Bang & Olufsen audio system, the lower screen is primarily used to control the climate settings. Besides several power points, the system also features a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot; Wireless smartphone charger is optional.
Safety and driver assistance features
The 2021 e-tron and Sportback both received a five-star rating in crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but neither 2021 model has been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It offers a suite of standard driver assistance technologies, and is available with adaptive cruise control and self-parking assistance. Key safety features include:
Standard Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking
Standard blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert
Standard Lane Departure Warning
Warranty and maintenance coverage
Audi offers a competitive, albeit limited and discreet powertrain warranty. While the maintenance free is much shorter than that of the I-Pace, the e-tron’s electric components are covered for the same amount of time.
The limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
